Join us on an imagined journey across the United States, and encounter some resident raptors in their ecosystems. We’ll learn about the habitat needs of each species, as well as their range and behavior in the wild. Who knows whoooo we’ll encounter?
This event is presented by the Vermont Institute of Natural Science and is FREE and open to the public.
This event is hosted in collaboration with Pittsford Village Farm, Pittsford Recreation Department and the Maclure Library.
Vermont's own Francophone band Va-et-Vient enjoys entertaining audiences with lively and sonorous three-part harmony singing. Irresistible songs from Québec, France, and Cajun Louisiana are accompanied by guitar, fiddle, flute, mandolin, penny whistle, harmonica, and a variety of percussion instruments. Carol Reed, Lausanne Allen, and Suzanne Germain (all from neighboring Addison County) present songs with wry wit and warm-hearted humor, always making sure the audience is included in the song's punch line. Behind every good song is an even better story, one to which everyone can relate, no matter the language! The band loves audience participation, teaching chorus lines and, when space allows, leading traditional dances.

Mikahely hails from the beautiful island of Madagascar, but his music is out of this world! A self-taught musician, he draws inspiration from traditional Malagasy rhythms to create his own unique sound on guitar and valiha (a zither-like instrument made from bamboo). Having toured in Madagascar and Europe, he now brings his music to new audiences in the United States. He is also featured in the documentary “Guitar Madagascar”.

The Michele Fay Band features original and Americana music that brings forth a comfortable groove of folk, swing, and bluegrass-influenced songs that are woven seamlessly together. Michele’s heart-felt lyrics are central to the ensemble, as she sings with a clear, authentic voice accompanied by guitar and banjo. Band members add ideal melodic instrumentals on mandolin, guitar, fiddle and upright bass. The band’s performances are both energetic and unpretentious, appealing to a wide range of audience.
