Baird Morgan

Born in Pennsylvania, Baird got his first taste of Vermont in the summer of 1949 and has never looked back. In 1959 he, along with several other college friends, purchased an old house in S. Lincoln which they “fixed over” for a ski house. After achieving an MBA from the Wharton School, Baird spent four years teaching and then several years starting a feeder airline in Burlington. From the airline industry he took over the management of Vermont Tubbs, best known for manufacturing snowshoes and subsequently nationally recognized furniture. While in Burlington, Baird met his future wife Betsy, more than 50 years ago. Since then, they have raised a son and a daughter and celebrated five grandchildren, all while living in their home on Elm St. in Pittsford. Baird and Betsy enjoy traveling, but most of all love Vermont and the quality of life it affords them — they love to hike, bike, canoe, ski, snowshoe and row all in their backyard. Living in a small town such as Pittsford allows them the opportunity to participate at the local level and feel that they can “make a difference.”

Betsy Morgan

Several passions have molded Betsy from the past into the present: passion for science and learning, for nature in all its rhythms and variety, and a deep appreciation for music from Broadway to Classical. Born in Connecticut, Betsy attended college in Connecticut during the exciting and impactful Civil Rights era of the 60s. She received a BA in Zoology and continued her education at Columbia University in New York City where she achieved a BS degree in Nursing. She practiced and loved nursing for many years , working in Public Health, Acute Care, teaching, and Community Nursing with the Visiting Nurse Association. Betsy also received an M.Ed. from the University of Vermont. She and her husband Baird have lived in Pittsford for 50 years where they raised their two children. Betsy loves being outdoors as much as possible, walking, biking, gardening, enjoying wildflowers and nature in all her many forms, sights, smells and sounds.
